WhatsApp Unveils Email Authentication and Voice Chat Features
WhatsApp, under Meta’s ownership, unveils a new feature enabling users to link their accounts to an email address for authentication. Previously exclusive to the beta version, this capability is now accessible to all users, offering an alternative to SMS verification, particularly beneficial for those with limited cellular coverage. The update, available in WhatsApp’s latest iOS version (23.24.70), allows users to add an email address for authentication via the Your Profile > Account > Email Address menu. Notably, the email remains private and solely serves authentication purposes, invisible to other WhatsApp users. However, users still require a valid phone number for platform usage.
Additionally, WhatsApp introduces voice chat, facilitating live communication within large group chats without significant disruption. Amid these positive updates, the messaging platform faced recent challenges with the emergence of ‘Pink WhatsApp.’ Despite the misleading name suggesting a new feature, Pink WhatsApp is a fraudulent application designed to deceive users. Once installed, it compromises smartphone data, including confidential information like bank details and passwords, highlighting the importance of user awareness and security measures in the digital landscape.
